As an attorney with 30+ years of experience, I am running to end county dysfunction and restore progressive, community-first leadership.
My roots are deeply planted in Jackson County. I’ve spent decades serving our community, from the courtroom to the classroom, and I’ve seen firsthand how local leadership can restore trust and bring people together. 30 Years of Legal Service
Carla Fields is an attorney, small business owner, mother, homeowner, and longtime Jackson County resident committed to bringing accountable, collaborative leadership to county government.

Carla’s commitment to service is rooted in Jackson County. Growing up, she watched her father, Taylor Fields, build one of Kansas City’s first Black-owned law firms, shaping her understanding of leadership, hard work, and service to others.

As Chair of the Jackson County Bar Association, Carla has worked alongside attorneys and community leaders to strengthen the legal profession and its impact throughout the community. Her experience as an attorney and small business owner has prepared her to navigate complex issues, bring people together, and focus on results.

Carla ran for the Jackson County Legislature because residents deserve a government they can trust. After years of dysfunction, property tax challenges, and political infighting, she believes it is time for leadership focused on solutions.
As the Democratic nominee for the Jackson County Legislature’s 1st District At-Large, Carla is focused on restoring trust, creating a fair and transparent property tax system, strengthening public safety, and ensuring county government works for every resident.

For Carla, public service is about delivering results and building a stronger Jackson County for everyone who calls it home.
